Bloomington Jefferson places second in Metro South bowling league

Bloomington Jefferson placed second in the Metro South High School Bowling League with an 11-5 record.

Minneapolis Roosevelt won the regular-season league title with a 12-4 record. Holy Angels placed third ahead of Richfield, Kennedy and Minneapolis South.

Final-round matches were conducted Nov. 2 at Lariat Lanes in Richfield.

Top individuals for the season based on fill percentage were Kennedy's Phil Schramm, Jefferson's Justin Tumberg, Roosevelt's Tony Wright, Jefferson's T.J. Walstead, Holy Angels' Jessica Selchow and Richfield's Katie Brekken.

The Metro South league will conclude its season at its postseason tournament Friday, Nov. 9, at Memory Lanes in Minneapolis.

The Metro South's awards will be presented at the league tournament.

In previous week's action, Kennedy defeated Jefferson to avoid a season sweep Oct. 26.

The Eagles set a season record with a 947 team score in the five-game set. Schramm fired 10 strikes and three spares. Zach Fremder and Alexa Upton contributed 12 strikes and nine spares between them.

Two of the games were decided in the final frame.

Jefferson's Cordell LaBeau and Walstead each scored five strikes, five spares and no misses.

Holy Angels won both of its matches in league action defeating Kennedy and Richfield.

Holy Angels' Jeff Hartman had 11 strikes and four spares while Selchow struck out the 10th frame of game three against Kennedy for the come-from-behind victory. Josh Steenson had only one open frame in the Kennedy match.

Richfield defeated Minneapolis South after losing to Minneapolis Roosevelt.
