BAC football champs

Two tackle football division championships and one flag football title were decided Saturday, Nov. 1, at the Burnsville Athletic Club Championship Day.

Games were played at Mel Larson Field at Black Dog Park. The Seahawks defeated the Titans for the grades 2-4 flag championship. The Steelers defeated the Bears in the fifth/sixth-grade tackle championship game, and the Cowboys beat the Broncos in the seventh/eighth-grade tackle title game.

Seahawks players are Alec Johnson, Joe Ansell, Dylan Bubendorf, Haakon Deach, Garrett Devine, Beau Heinen, Joseph Koski, Tom Martin and Stephen Olson Jr. Head coach is John Devine and assistant coach is Jim Heinen.

Steelers players are Jared Anderson, Dylan Andrews, Tyler Birkholz, Jared Gemuenden, Thomas Haberlack, Alex Hughes, Cory Kallstrom, Noah Moten, Gerrit Olsen, Nicholas Olson, Brady Reuvers, Kavan Sommer, Isaac Steaderman, Tony Sullivan, Camden Traetow, Austin Villelli, and Adam Ziebol. Chris Pelzel is head coach, and Jeff Pelant, Brady Gillies, Mark Wilcox and Al Lucken are assistant coaches.

Cowboys players are Nathan Johnston, Michael Scheer, Benjamin Baker, Marcus Jelinski, Joshua Digman, Bobby Mateen, Billy Brock, Matthew Simon, Jaron Holt, Clay Hurlbut, Matt Wrycza, John Dahl, Cooper Smith, Jason Neal, and Sam Wallick. Bob Wallick is head coach, and his assistants are Sean Orr, Dan Bane, Robert Mateen and Bob Keeney.

EAA annual meeting

Eagan Athletic Association will have its annual meeting and board elections at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, at Eagan Community Center.

South Metro Storm

Several South Metro Storm swimmers had state qualifying times in the New Hope/Crystal/Plymouth Fall Brawl meet, and numerous others swam personal best times.

Kyle Ochsner had state qualifying times in four events in the boys 17-18 age group. Brianna Alexander swam eight state qualifying times and Alicia Young four in the girls 9-10 bracket. Rachel Gruber had three state qualifying times in the girls 8-and-under division.

Brianna Alexander set seven Storm team records in the girls 9-10 age group in the Oct. 24-25 meet. The records were in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle, 50 and 100 backstroke, 50 butterfly, 100 breaststroke and 100 individual medley.

Brittany Alexander swam a club-record time in the 50 breaststroke for the girls 8-and-under division.

Swimming at least one personal best time were Lauren Codina, Jenna Gruber, Grace Halpenny, Lauren Harris, Mitchell Herrera, Zach Kleist, Jonas Lemke, Natasha Lemke, Andrew Lind, Kallie Lizarraga, Jaimie McNamee, Brian Ochsner, Kyle Oxley, Alanna Post, Tanner Smith, Zach Smith, Matt Sorenson, Ben Sprengeler, Andrew Strauch and Marco van Heteren-Freeze.

The Storm's next meet is the Fall Turkey Take-Off Invitational Saturday, Nov. 15, and Sunday, Nov. 16, at Kenwood Middle School in Lakeville.

VAA board meeting

New board members will be elected at the Valley Athletic Association annual meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, at Apple Valley Community Center, 14603 Hayes Road.

Descriptions of varsity board responsibilities are available in the download section of the VAA's website, www.vaasports.org. Anyone interested in serving is asked to contact the association at pres@vaasports.org.

The annual meeting will include a guest speaker and a recap of the past year. The Paul Bronson traveling and community Coach of the Year awards will be presented, as will the Community Volunteer Award.

Registration for the Burnsville Hockey Club's Mite program has begun. The program is for boys and girls ages 4-9. Online registration is available at www.blazehockey.com.

EVHA signup open

Eastview Hockey Association player registration is now open online at www.eastviewhockey.net.

First-year elementary school-age players are eligible for a free equipment package. First-year Mites will pay only a $50 registration fee. Players must reside within the Eastview High School boundary area to register.

BHC registration starts

Burnsville Hockey Club is accepting registrations from players in grades 4-9.

Available teams for the 2008-09 season range from Squirt/Under-10 through Bantams.
