The U.S. Army has issued an invitation to Bloomington and surrounding communities to cheer on the West Team at this year's Army All-American Bowl Saturday, Jan. 3.

A viewing party with prizes and game snacks, is scheduled at Joe Senser's Sports Theatre, 4217 American Blvd. West, Bloomington.

The party will begin at 1130 a.m. along with the television broadcast live on NBC from San Antonio's Alamodome.

The U.S. Army All-American Bowl has been is one of the nation's premier all-American game by high school football players, coaches, and fans from across the country.

Earlier games have served as a launching pad for America's future college and NFL stars such as Reggie Bush, Vince Young, Adrian Peterson and Brady Quinn. All made their national debuts as U.S. Army All-Americans.

"The party is in honor of three Minnesota high school students selected to play in game, one as an impact receiver for the West Team who will take on the East high school players, and two as musicians for the half-time performance," said Mary Lou Eckstrand, public affairs officer for the Army.

According to the Army selection committee's statement, "Bryce McNeal of Minneapolis, a Breck High School student, had only 31 catches as a junior, but scored nine touchdowns."

The US Army selected Minnesota musicians Kevin Golla and Alexandria Kruse to play in second annual U.S. Army All-American Marching Band. Golla is a member of District Honor Band and the University of Minnesota and St. Thomas Honor Bands.

He received superior ratings in Solo and Ensemble Festivals.

Lexie received Superior Ratings at State Solo Contests. She is the First Chair of the All-State Band, Augustana Honor Band, Minnesota Band Director's Association Honor Band, and the MSU Honor Band.

She was the Outstanding Soloist of the Adrian Jazz Festival, and won first place at the Bemidji State University Trumpet Concert Competition.
