Blaze bantams honored
Burnsville's boys Bantam B1 hockey team recently was honored by the Minnesota Wild and Cub Foods for its part in raising money to help victims of an apartment building fire.
The team had been scheduled to take part in a Cub Foods program called "Bagging for Tips." The money raised was to be used for team expenses.
When an apartment building in Burnsville was destroyed by fire just before Christmas 2008, the hockey players decided to donate their tip money to the victims. Between the tip money and some anonymous donations, the team was able to give more than $5,400 to the fire victims.
The team was honored on the ice at a Wild home game at Xcel Energy Center. It was also a successful year on the ice for the Bantam B1 squad, which was 40-12-4 and qualified for the state tournament.
Team members are Jordie Charles, Nic Anderson, Ryan Keenan, Rudy Daleki, Kyle Kauth, Kevin McCabe, Justin Bailey, Austin Tisdell, Brian VanderWoude, Hunter Bowlin, Kyle Kappel, Dillon Kirschbaum, Jordan Hadley, Alex Christoffersen, Adam Schweitzer and Nick DeGregorio. Coaches are Pat Madigan, Dan Perisic, Cody Link, Tim Perisic and Chuck Hadley.
