Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School Board approves new magnet school at Eagle Ridge Junior High
BY GRANT BOELTER
The Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District is getting another magnet school.
The District 191 School Board on Thursday, Nov. 19, approved a new Gifted and Talented Magnet Program at Eagle Ridge Junior High in Savage.
The district opened four new magnet programs this year - Envision Academy of the Arts for high school students, as well as science, technology, engineering and mathematics magnet programs at William Byrne Elementary School and Metcalf Junior High and a gifted and talented program at Harriet Bishop Junior High.
The program at Eagle Ridge will provide students with opportunities for accelerated coursework, as well as an expanded arts curriculum, which include drama and music classes. Students will also have the opportunity to learn string instruments, as a similar program was also implemented at the Harriet Bishop Gifted and Talented Magnet this year.
