Bloomington Resident Blends Two Passions in a Unique Way
Reese Hendricks, a resident of Bloomington and a school counselor in the Twin Cities area, has blended his passion for helping kids with his passion for writing; by launching the TTIO Books Project.
TTIO is an acronym that the author has coined that stands for Two Tomes In One. A TTIO is a hybrid book that is part children’s picture-book allegory and part prose for adults. Each allegory deals with a personal topic such as sharing, honesty, self-esteem, and personal responsibility. The prose part of the TTIO is a key to the allegory. The key discusses the allegory in the context of sociological, philosophical, and political ideas and situations.
The creation of TTIO was inspired by the many cases of at-risk teens the educator has dealt with as a teacher and school counselor over the past 12 years of his career. He believes early proactive support can curtail much of the turbulence in adolescence. Hendricks hopes that TTIOs will become a positive staple genre in the literary world for children and adults to draw from. As the project grows, Hendricks will donate TTIOs to foster homes, children's hospitals, and other places where kids can use an extra boost of self-esteem.
